What is Backflow?  Backflow is defined as the reversed  flow due to backpressure other than siphonic action.

What does this mean?    This means that there is the potential for cross connection between a potable water supply and non-potable water supply.

What is Potable vs Non Potable Water?
Potable water is water that is designated for human consumption.  Non Potable water is water that is not fit for human consumption.

Backflow can occur in any type of water system, however, the one that we as Irrigation Professionals are concerned with is situations in where residential or commercial irrigations systems are connected to a potable water supply.  In the event of an irrigation system being connected to potable, or in most cases, a municipal water supply, it is imperative that the proper Backflow Prevention methods are used to prevent cross connection.

A proper Backflow Prevention Device is designed to be testable and must be tested and repaired as necessay by a qualified, licensed Backflow Prevention Specialist Annually.

If your irrrigation system is connected to a municipal water supply and it has not been tested and certified by a licensed Backflow Specialist to prevent the risk of cross contamination, please give us a call to test your device.  We are certified Backflow Prevention Testers and Installers and can ensure that the liabilities of cross contamination to the municipal water supply does not occur.
